My creative space

I am working on a custom order at the moment (more about that in another post) and I thought it would be a good idea to take some pictures of my creative space before it gets all messed up again...

This is my magnetic message board where I like to attach current creative inspirations. Gaston, my 4-year son likes to make me drawings; most of the time he draws trains, buldozers and robots but in recent weeks he started drawing houses, perhaps influenced by my little house brooches. I love his attention to detail and intend to use his drawings in my future designs (if he agrees, of course).

Above the sewing table a little sales fairy is keeping an eye on my work. Sales fairy was a European Street Team project on Etsy a little over a year ago, a good-sales-vibes chain game in which we had to first catch a fairy (purchase it as soon as it got listed) and then make one ourselves to offer to the next in line. I was lucky to catch this beautiful creation by Michele from steinschmuckdesign and made Beeba for the next candidate. (I don't know where the sales fairy is today, I hope she hasn't retired yet...).

I will have more news about upcoming Loddelina bags soon!

The world according to Gaston

.
My almost three-year-old, like all children his age, has always shown great interest in electronic gadgets adults were using in everyday life. Having mastered the phone and the DVD player it was soon time to try the digital camera...

At first we would give him an old Canon IXUS with a broken display that only showed the generic pictuire of a bird when switched on but made attractive picture-snapping sounds upon pressing the button, which was enough for a start. This past week, however, Gaston began to be bored with his camera never capturing anything so he started borrowing mine. Watching me he soon figured out which buttons to press and after a few days of happy snapping I could make this selection of his "essentials" - without adjusting or cropping the pictures in any way.

Gaston's favourites

I only have two nights left to pack for our holiday and I'm putting together some toys to take with us (at the end they might get completely ignored and those left behind will be the most wanted, but that's life...).
But one thing I know for sure - I musn't forget my 3 year old son's painting kit. He loves to watercolour and this is his palette (or what's left of it). I only now noticed how he has used some colours more than others. He seems to prefer greens, blues and deep red-brown hues but for some reason avoids yellow, orange and purple. The winner is by far the colour black. It is, like the Monty Python say "no more".
