Christmas market

I am participating in a local Christmas creative market this Saturday and I will be offering most of my smaller purses, clutches and zipper pouches, plus some new pencil cases, house brooches and little stuffed animals I've made especially for this occasion.

I am spending my last evening making labels, preparing packaging material and my tiny stand

Autumn

I love autumn, the smell of wet leaves, the soft morning mist that promises another sunny day, chestnuts, grapes, apples,.. inspirations are endless.

I have added some autumn zippered pouches in my shop recently, together with some house brooches - I think my shop will need more of both to be ready for the big holiday season...

Obožujem jesen, vonj mokrih listov, nežne jutranje meglice, ki obljubljajo še en sončen dan, kostanj, grozdje in jabolka,... neskončno navdihujoče!
V trgovino sem dodala nekaj novih puščic na zadrgo in majhne hiške broške - obojih bom morala zašiti še precej, da napolnim trgovino pred božično sezono...

Christmas tree ornaments

I love my little house brooches and have a lot of fun making them, picking little fabric leftovers and matching them with tiny pieces of wool felt. The truth is they don't sell as much as they seem to be popular by Etsy treasury makers, but I don't give up :)

This holiday season I decided to try out another tiny house design, a set of three house ornaments, embroidered with holiday message of love, hope and peace. Ornaments hang from a long organza ribbon and are ready to attach to a tree or any other place in your home.

So far I have listed two sets of ornaments in my shop, there are more in the making, so stay tuned...

Okraski za božično jelko

Rada imam moje male hiške broške in uživam, ko zanje izbiram ostanke blaga in koščke volnene polsti. Sicer se še daleč ne prodajajo tako množično, kot jih sestavljalke zakladnic na Etsyju uvrščajo v svoje zbirke, a jaz se ne dam :)

To predbožično sezono sem se odločila preizkusiti nov izdelek, set treh majhnih hišk z izvezenim sporočilom ljubezni, upanja in miru. Hiške okraski visijo na dolgem traku iz organce in zo pripravljene za obešanje na jelko ali kamorkoli drugam v vašem domu.

Zaenkrat sem v trgovino dodala dva seta obeskov, a v delu jih imam še nekaj...

My workspace

Today is a Loddelina Sunday so I am busy cutting fabric and preparing everything for my day of sewing. So far I have a neighbourhood of little house brooches in the works and I might relax a little in front of the TV later in the afternoon while I sew the brooches shut.
If time premits I also have a new hipster bag all cut out and ready to assemble...

And this is the latest addition to my shop, small money purse, made from chocolate brown wool cloth and embroidered with mustard yellow thread.

Update: several hours later my little house brooches are almost finished (I have to sew a pin in the back of each one) - hopefully I can add most of them to my shop tomorrow...

New in my shop

I am so happy to be back at my sewing station that I already listed three new items in my shop since we came back from vacation last weekend!
Three items might not seem much but to me it is quite an achievement, considering all the unpacking, tidying the flat and a huge pile of laundry we had to take care of first (and I mean "we", thanks, honey, for helping :)

So here they are, a new Maia zippered purse (with a slightly revisited design from last autumn, there will be more to come) and two tiny house brooches. It was a lot of fun making these, especially the one with fairy lights; do you think I should make more for the coming Christmas season?

While I was sleeping ...

... my little house brooch made it to the Front Page!

It has been a really long time since I was featured on Etsy FP so I am very grateful to Erin, talented jewellery maker from TheSilverDog, for having included me in her Tiny Pieces of Art treasury. Little yellow house got lots of hearts and so did some other items in my shop - a happy change from otherwise slow Etsy month.

In other news, I am currently working on another design, a small crossbody hipster bag - flat, simple and practical. I might even consider a men's version...

New in the neighbourhood

It has been a while since I added new tiny houses to my shop but a few days ago two of the brooches got sold and I had to make some more - so here they are, four new homes in the neighbourhood.

And while I was sewing away, sprig arrived - days are suddenly getting sunny and much warmer and trees in the park are full of bird song. I couldn't find any flowers poking out of the ground on this high altitude to take nice pictures of so I made my houses even more cheerful instead...

And then there were thee more

I finished three more house brooches last night and after taking pictures in the afternoon I listed them in my shop this evening.

The first one came out slightly smaler than the others because I make these brooches from little leftover patches of fabric - so it turned out to look more like a tiny garden shed...

The pink house needed something to make these candy colours more interesting so I added a bit of orange trim with green dots. Come in, Hansel and Gretel!

And the last one turned out to be my favourite - I will definitely make me a brooch in this delicious burnt orange colour (if I find the time, that is...).

A house to wear

Yael, a blogger friend and the sweetest person, has recenlty purchased one of my little house keychains. She told me she will not use it for keys but attach it to her handbag as an ornament. Which made me think that perhaps somebody else would prefer to wear the charm rather than keep it inside the bag...

So I scaled down my little house into a tiny, miniature cottage and added a pin in the back, introducing first ever Loddelina brooch.

The brooch measures 3.8 x 6.4cm (1.5 x 2.5") and is filled with light plant fibre stuffing, which makes it around 1.5 cm (0.6") thick. I chose the classical safety pin to attach the brooch with - it is small and flat enugh to pin the house snuggly to your clothes.

My first three house brooches come in mustard yellow, rusty red and ivory colour, with matching appliqued and embroidered doors and windows.

The mustard one even has a small fence, made from golden lace trim.

I had so much fun making these miniatures that I will add more to my shop in the next weeks!

Little houses - keychain charms

I have been toying with the idea of making some keychain ornaments, a bit like my decorative hearts but smaller, to keep the keys company and make them easier to find in the depths of a woman's handbag.

At the end I decided to make tiny houses kechain charms with little doors and windows made of felt and freehand machine embroidery. I have a lot of leftover fabric, patches too small to make anything other than very small objects and this seemed like a perfect solution. I attached a split ring to the "chimney" of each house and am quite pleased with the three I made today (once I knew what I wanted they didn't took too long to finish).

I might try some hand stitching next time or add beads and trims to make the houses more festive - they are all stuffed with plant fibre filling so can also be used as pincushions or even christmas ornaments...

Bird music

On daily walks through Pontarlier I try to explore my new hometown as much as I can.

I have already found my (so far) favourite chocolate shop where they sell delicious macarons, a crèmerie, where they sell fresh milk (you bring your own bottles) and some lovely home decoraton shops that make me want to live in their shop window.

Sometimes it is not what the shop sells that interests me, but how they decorate their wondow. It is easier when all you have to do is arrange many attractive items together, but so much more difficult when you want to presend an abstract, intangible thing.

So I was pleasantly surprised to find these happy birds in a window of a shop that sells concert tickets. The musical birds, not two completely alike, are made from what looks like polymer clay and their colourful wooden houses make a perfect background.

I like the red&white polka dot house with a blue roof best. Which one is your favourite?
