I added four new zipper pouches in my shop today, a collection of wool cloth purses with silk patches, embroidery and lace trim.

Next I have some special orders to work on and some more new designs for winter season.

Trenutno imam v delu nekaj posebnih naročil, nameravam pa se lotiti tudi novih torbic za zimsko sezono.

Work in progress

There are some half finished Mia zipper pouches on my sewing table this weekend,
a revisit of my favourite materials, darker wool cloth with brighter silk patches, lace trims and freehand machine embroidery. I love drawing with thread and these autumn branches, sometimes adorned with beads and sometimes bare, go very well with cotton lace trim, they remind me of traditional, ethnic motifs of Slavic heritage.

If all goes well I should have these pouches in my shop on Tuesday.

Na moji šivalni mizi je nekaj na pol končanih žepkov na zadrgo Mia, v že videni
+++ kombi777777777jyi788888naciji (Tigr, spravi se dol z moje tipkovnice!) volnenega blaga v temnejših tonih in svetlejše svile, okrašene s čipko in prostoročno strojno vezenino. Rada rišem z nitjo in te jesenske vejice, včasih gole, včasih pošite s koraldami, se lepo ujemajo s čipko, spominjajo me na etnične motive slovanske kulturne dediščine.

Če bo šlo vse po načrtih, bodo nove torbice v trgovini ta torek.

The last two

First I want to thank Elisa from peskycatdesigns for being my Holiday Boot Camp buddy and congratulate her for completing the goal we set out to achieve together at the end of September - by today, December 1st, she added 60 new items in her shop, so almost one a day - excellent job!

I tried to follow her tempo for a while but lost speed after my 30th item or so. I spent all my free time sewing, even through naps instead of catching up on my sleep just at the time when caughing and sniffling childen started waking me up a few times a night.

I had to reset my mind, tidy up my work space and iron a mountain of laundry - and today I finished the last two zippered pouches, making my finishing line total of 34 items.

So here they are, the two new Mia purses, made from deep chocolate brown upholstery canvas and decorated with raw slik patches and freehand machine embroidered branches.

I hope they still catch some preholiday views and hearts; I set a deadline in my shop for international orders that need to be delivered on time for Christmas - the deadline is December 5th. So far I have had good experience with La Poste regarding shipping times to US, Canada or Australia and New Zealand, but one never knows.

So hurry up! :)

This gorgeous pendant necklace came in the mail yesterday - made by Sonja, a blogger friend and a truly creative fellow Slovenian.

I came across Sonja's blog a while ago and couldn't get enough of the magnificent jewellery she makes out of polymer clay, not to mention the paintings and sewn goodies - you can see her work if you click around the Link Within feature at the end of her blog posts.

Sonja recently opened her Etsy shop CreatedbySonja and I was lucky enough to snatch this pretty redhead pendant - it is a glazed print transfer on polymer clay, made after one of her own mixed media portraits. And so beautifully wrapped..., I almost didn't want to open it!

I haven't been very busy sewing these days as I play the nurse to my sniffling and caughing children - winter is here and our car is locked in ice every morning...

So here are just two recent listings, another Goga wristlet, made from mocha brown chenille, and an embroidered Mia zippered purse in grey and burnt orange.

Hungry bird and berries pouch

Lightweight wool cloth in charcoal grey;

frontside, an embroidered aqua blue branch, full of juicy orange bead berries.

In the back, a small but very hungry bird, trying to find a way to the other side.

Lined with dark olive green canvas, closes with 20 cm dove grey zipper.

The hungry bird pouch is my entry for the new European Street Team challenge.

Apples

I love apples, any kind but most of all the juicy, crispy and slightly sour varierties.

Yesterday, after bringing a full basket of fresh Gala from farmers' market and ending up eating half of them with my children, there were, well, apples on my mind.

So today, as soon I had a couple of hours to myself, I made this Mia pouch from a piece of rusty red and orange striped canvas. The apple is embroidered in orange and light aqua thread and the pouch closes with olive green zipper. Since I was in a hurry I didn't bother to change the thread too often but I think the aqua blue looks quite nice against the dark khaki lining...

Tomorrow I'm buying more apples!

Autumn leaves

My oak trees are turning gold...

New Mia zipper pouch with freehand embroidered leaves in warm autumn colours on chocolate brown wool. The purse is interfaced and lined with dark khaki canvas and closes with an orange zipper.

Don't stop me now ...

"... Cause I'm having a good time", said Freddy Mercury a long time ago.

And it is fun, spending every minute of my free time sewing & taking pictures, trying to list one new item in my shop every day or so. Larger bags take at least two to three days to make and at the moment I am busy with the smaller Mia pouch, determined to make as many zippered purses as I can before Freddy's energy runs out.

I start in the evening when the children are in bed; I match together a few different fabrics, trims and zippers, think about the new design a bit and then go to bed. In the morning I come back to the sewing table to see if the colours I had put together last night still match by daylight. I try to finish the pouch by afternoon the same day, stealing half an hour here and there between my chores, and then take pictures of the finished design before the light runs out and the intense evening family time begins. If it's not my turn to put the children to bed I use my evening to prepare the pictures on the computer and list the new item - or leave it 'till the next day and list two at the same time...

Here are my latest additions:

First pouch is made of striped basque cloth in forest green, deep sage and purple with brown leaves on the trim*

and the second is another wool tweed experiment, this time with embroidered acorns on the front and lace in the back.

I recently purchased a nice stamp that says "Handmade" and have already tried it out - on the paper I use to wrap my purses ...

... and stamped, with more permanent ink, on the inside of the pouches.

* The credit for the first Mia purse in forest green goes to my husband: it was him who, while peaking over my shoulder the other evening, suggested I sew the ribbon with leaves horizontally and put the Loddelina label in front rather than sewing it on the side.

Harvest inspiration

Two more Mia pouches are in Loddelina shop!

I love the new design, it is small enough to make in one day - my working hours are scattered between housework and two children - and I get to express myself differently with each purse.

The first one is made of cream white upholstery fabric with a patch of Ikea printed canvas that inspired me to add some embroidery & beads in the back in matching orange and aqua.

The second one was inspired by the tag "harvest" that Etsy admin sugested for the coming season - I used warm grey fabric with burnt orange silk and some cream lace. To add a seasonal touch I embroidered two trees in the front and added some olive green trim in the back.

To show that the harvest tag is really hot at the moment, Sherri from SherriConley (check out her shop for some amazing photography!), featured the orange pouch in her Harves Time treasury just minutes after Mia was listed.

New custom work

I have just finished listing another Mia zippered pouch in my Etsy shop - this time I used charcoal grey wool tweed, some purple red embroidery thread and a brass charm in the shape of small scissors.

The idea of the scissors cutting through "fil rouge" came from my children who are always interrupting my train of thought, sometimes with questions but often with just a "mama, look at me!"

The pouch is lined with plaid fabric in matching colours for a bit of autumn feel...

This weekend I was also working on a custom order. Sophie from Australia wanted me to make a Mia pouch very much like the chocolate brown one with lace and leafy trim but with some added colour. A few convos and a couple of photo sketches later she chose the combination with ruby red silk and chocolate brown zipper.

(The sketch and the final result don't match in colour that well because they were taken at different times of day but you get the picture)...
