We have been enjoying beautiful golden days of autumn with temperatures as high as 18C - two week school holidays are coming to an end and last weekend was spent with our friends in Augsburg, Germany, where we have once lived. We took this opportunity to visit the nearby Legoland and a backdrop of autumn leaves made the park even more special.

Now I am back at my studio, photographing and listing the items I have made recently; some house brooches, a wristlet and a couple of zipper pouches. Two of the brooches got snapped up as soon as I listed them, holiday shopping has begun :-)

Zadnji oktobrski dnevi so res čudoviti, čez dan je toplo tudi do 18 stopinj in ravnokar končujemo dvotedenske jesenske počitnice - prejšnji vikend smo bili na obisku pri prijateljih v Augsburgu, kjer smo nekoč živeli in seveda ni šlo brez skoka v bližnji Legoland, ki je v jesenskem listju še posebej veličasten. Zdaj sem nazaj in fotografiram ter v trgovino dodajam izdelke, ki sem jih sešila v zadnjih dneh - dve hiški broški sta že prodani, hura za bližajoče se praznike :-)

Oh, deer!

I love this beautiful upholstery jacquard I recently found in our local fabric shop, of all places - the gorgeous colours and fun woodland motifs, who wouldn't want a nice comfy armchair upholstered with it?

Unfortunatelly it is a bit too expensive for such a project but a few smaller purses and pouches will look quite cheerful adorned with little deer, foxes, birds and snowflakes. Is it too early to start thinking of autumn?

Here are first two bags I made, one XL zipper pouch and one small, elegant clutch for an evening out. Every little bit of this rich fabric seems too precious to cut out, I trace my patterns carefully to get the best composition possible and not waste anything. More forest wonderland soming soon!

Zaljubljena sem v tale žakard, ki sem ga našla nikjer drugje kot v naši lokalni trgovini z metražo - čudovite barve in motivi srnic, ptic, lisic in snežink - a je še prezgodaj za jesenske misli?

Zaenkrat sem v trgovino dodala dve torbici, eno večjo, drugo manjšo, večerno, kmalu se jima pridruži še kakšna!

Purse tree

A purse tree is a magical plant which I use to grow all my purses on :-)

Last week it produced two zipper pouches in silver faux leather, a present for two birthday girls we had dinner with on Saturday. There is a similar purse available in my shop at the moment so have a look while I go and water my purse tree!

V mojem vrtu raste posebno drevo, na katerem poganjajo torbice :-) Prejšnji teden sem pobrala dve puščici iz srebrnega umetnega usnja na zadrgo, darilci za dve slavljenki sobotnega rojstnega dne. Podobna puščica je trenutno na voljo tudi v moji trgovini - medtem, ko si jo pogledate, grem jaz zalit moje drevesce!

Longing for spring ...

... And doodling bright, nature inspired drawings. One of them led to a new clutch with a similar patchwork design - I used cool wool cloth for the base and sew on it leaves in all the blue fabrics and patterns I could find in my box of scraps, then embroidered them with the machine.

The clutch is 26 cm (10") wide, 16 cm (6.5") tall, lined with cream white canvas with botanical print and it closes with a metallic zipper.

Nova torbica na zadrgo, ki je nastala po skici, načečkani med sanjarjenjem po pomladi. Torbica je široka 26 cm, visoka 16 cm, podložena z belim potiskanim platnom in se zapira na kovinsko zadrgo.

Back to work

After coming home from our short holiday in Slovenia, a fresh shipment of zippers waited for me at the post office - no more excuses, it's time to go back to work!

Sunny, warm October days in Ljubljana and dying blossoms in my mother's garden are now just a fresh inspiration for new creations.

Back to school!

September is time for children to go back to school and for their mama to have more time for sewing :-)

So here they are, september news in my shop:

For all your daily walks around town, here are two messenger bags in super soft vegan leather, handmade embroidery and adjustable shoulder strap. The bag has many pockets; exterior zipper pocket plus interior pockets - one with a flap for your phone, small slip pockets for tissues, a small notebook (am I the only one who still uses paper?) and pens plus a swivel hook for keys.

While working with vegan leather, I tried out a small zipper pouch and here are the results.

And for those who think small is beautiful and tiny is downright awesome, here are five more fabric brooches.

Nazaj v šolo! 

Ko gredo otroci septembra nazaj v šolo, ima mama končno več časa za šivanje... Tule so rezultati zadnjih dveh tednov, zdaj na voljo v trgovini. Lep sončen september vam želim!

Autumn

I love autumn, the smell of wet leaves, the soft morning mist that promises another sunny day, chestnuts, grapes, apples,.. inspirations are endless.

I have added some autumn zippered pouches in my shop recently, together with some house brooches - I think my shop will need more of both to be ready for the big holiday season...

Obožujem jesen, vonj mokrih listov, nežne jutranje meglice, ki obljubljajo še en sončen dan, kostanj, grozdje in jabolka,... neskončno navdihujoče!
V trgovino sem dodala nekaj novih puščic na zadrgo in majhne hiške broške - obojih bom morala zašiti še precej, da napolnim trgovino pred božično sezono...

Another week deeper into winter and the streets of Pontarlier are putting on their Christmas decoration. Somebody in our house doesn't seem to be impressed by approaching holidays - Tigrou enjoys quiet time when children are at school...
Sunsets are particularly picturesque this time of year and there are some lovely winter flowers and branches growing near our house, perfect for a bouquet.

And tonight I listed four new items in my shop: three sets of Christmas ornaments and a new zippered pouch. You are welcome to take a closer look!

iz mojega Instagram albuma: mesto Pontarlier se odeva v božično okrasje, maček Tigr se za to ne zmeni in uživa v dopoldanski tišini, ko sta otroka v šoli. V tem času so sončni zahodi še posebej slikoviti in okoli hiše najdem lep pušeljc suhih vej za v vazo!
In v moji trgovini so štirje novi izdelki, trije kompletki hišk okraskov in ena nova puščica na zadrgo. Vabljeni na ogled!

Shop news

I added four new zipper pouches in my shop today, a collection of wool cloth purses with silk patches, embroidery and lace trim.

Next I have some special orders to work on and some more new designs for winter season.

Novičke

Danes sem v trgovino dodala štiri nove torbice, kolekcijo iz volnenega blaga z dodatkom svile, čipke in vezenine.
Trenutno imam v delu nekaj posebnih naročil, nameravam pa se lotiti tudi novih torbic za zimsko sezono.

Work in progress

There are some half finished Mia zipper pouches on my sewing table this weekend,
a revisit of my favourite materials, darker wool cloth with brighter silk patches, lace trims and freehand machine embroidery. I love drawing with thread and these autumn branches, sometimes adorned with beads and sometimes bare, go very well with cotton lace trim, they remind me of traditional, ethnic motifs of Slavic heritage.

If all goes well I should have these pouches in my shop on Tuesday.

Na moji šivalni mizi je nekaj na pol končanih žepkov na zadrgo Mia, v že videni
+++ kombi777777777jyi788888naciji (Tigr, spravi se dol z moje tipkovnice!) volnenega blaga v temnejših tonih in svetlejše svile, okrašene s čipko in prostoročno strojno vezenino. Rada rišem z nitjo in te jesenske vejice, včasih gole, včasih pošite s koraldami, se lepo ujemajo s čipko, spominjajo me na etnične motive slovanske kulturne dediščine.

Če bo šlo vse po načrtih, bodo nove torbice v trgovini ta torek.

New in my shop

One expects winter to be cold but to have temperatures around -18°C for several days in a row is just too much and sitting still at the sewing machine gets a bit chilly after a while. I did manage to add a few zippered purses to my shop recently and am working on a custom order bag at the moment (pictures to follow).
In the next weeks I plan to work on new hipster bags for spring and perhaps a smaller version of money purse (with my new stock of 4" zippers).

So try to stay warm and let's hope this long and cold February is soon behind us...

More colour!

I decided to combine two of my favourite fabrics, vibrant corduroy in fresh, spring colours and patches of striped canvas from Maison d'Artiga.

The result are these (so far) two Maia zippered clutches, one in red, pink & purple combination and the other in robin egg blue & yellow mustard. I lined both purses with cheerful floral prints in matching colours and decorated the zipppers with handmade polymer clay beads.

I love saturated hues of these new purses but somehow their true colours don't always show in the photos of Etsy listings. I thought my computer screen was to blame so I opened several photos in different programmes - it turns out Etsy makes all pictures look duller and less sharp compared to same pictures, published on Flickr, Facebook and other places...

Other fellow Etsyians confirmed that it is the case in their shops as well. So for future listings on Etsy I will have to push the contrast and saturation up in PhotoShop and sharpen all the images.

No. three

I have a confession to make: I almost kept this little purse for myself :)

But, at the end, I decided to put it in my shop. So here she is, a small money purse in vibrant red, plum purple and turquoise striped canvas, lined with cheerful print and adorned with teal blue zipper & button.

New in my shop - small zippered money purse

As soon as we adjusted our clocks to summer time, my mind switched as well and now I have sea, sun and sand in my head all day long.

To let some of the summer spirit out I created these two zippered purses in fresh colour combination of navy blue, white, sand and red. The zippered money purse is a little smaller than my other zippered pouches, only 15 cm (6") wide on top, 11 cm (4.3") tall and measures 3 x 12 cm (1.2 x 4.7") on the bottom. It fits in the palm of your hand and can store anything from gadgets, cash & cards or makeup.

The first two purses will be availabe in my shop later tonight and there are more to come in the next few days!
